Casa Vinicola Zonin is a group of wines from the Veneto region with wineries throughout Italy and the US. It is known for its sparkling wines, namely Prosecco, but it also produces wines in Piedmont, Lombardy, Friuli, Tuscany, Apulia and Sicily. The main company Zonin was founded in 1821 in Gambellar in the province of Vicenza and exclusively produced wines. in northeastern Italy until the 1960s, when it began to spread to other parts of Italy. It all started when Zonin bought Ca 'Bolani in Fruili and then Castello di Albola in Chianti Classico. Since then, the empire has even reached the vineyards of Barboursville, Virginia. Today, Zonin owns nine properties in Italy and one in the United States. Each produces wines sold separately, and the Italian properties also supply wines for their own Zonin wines. Vineyard estates across Italy exceed 2,000 hectares (5,000 acres). Podere Il Giangio is the original historic vineyard of the Zonin family, from which Gambellara DOCG wines are produced from the Garganega grape variety. It is situated on a steep terraced slope with mineral-rich tuff volcanic soils.
