The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon - Item Code: 08648

Discover The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon:

From the most recognized Napa Valley red blend comes a distinct, new wine. Made in the same iconic style as The Prisoner Red Blend, we proudly introduce The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon. Redefining taste once again. The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon showcases aromas of black cherry and ripe plum are layered with vanilla and baking spice. Concentrated dark fruit flavors culminate in a lush, full mouthfeel and a lengthy finish.

The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon has rich flavors of blueberry, dark cherry, and chocolate, with aromas of freshly roasted coffee, black currant, vanilla bean, brown spice, and wild berries. This California red wine blends fruit from outstanding hillside vineyards in Napa Valley, and is inspired by the age-old process of propagating new vines using cuttings from beautiful places. The powerful flavor of cabernet sauvignon is combined with the structure of petite sirah and syrah, with a small amount of zinfandel added for complexity and spice, earning this red blend Best in Class at the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. This full-bodied cabernet sauvignon wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and has a smooth finish that goes well with steak and vegetables, lamb, or a cheeseburger. Store this barrel-aged wine at room temperature for the finest flavor and quality, then chill for 30 minutes before serving.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District’s tart cherry flavors. The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon is a fantastic Cab Sav in a mid price range, highly recommended by the team here at Broadway Wine N Liquor.

The drinkable “mixed blacks” prepared by the Italian immigrants who first landed in Napa Valley inspired The Prisoner Wine Company’s namesake debut wine. Since its release, The Prisoner has earned cult status as one of the most inventive Napa Valley wines, spearheading the comeback of California red blends. The Prisoner Wine Company’s winemaking methodology hasn’t changed, and now includes a white mix (Blindfold), Chardonnay (The Snitch), Cabernet Sauvignon (Cuttings), Zinfandel (Saldo), Merlot (Thorn), and a Red Blend (Dérangé).

The Prisoner Wine Company sources grapes from over 100 vineyards across California’s finest grape-growing areas, collaborating with exceptional growers dedicated to cultivating rare types. Chrissy Wittmann and her winemaking team work with this family of growers throughout the year, visiting each vineyard site to analyze the style and quality of each lot in order to make the greatest wine possible from each vintage.

The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon is a great example of a Napa Valley red. The scents and flavors of this wine are a perfect blend of black fruit and barrel. It's great with grilled beef.

Discover Cabernet Sauvignon Wines

Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine grape variety from the vitis vinifera grape plant species. It is the world's most commonly planted red wine grape variety, and its wines have lately been rated as the most sought-after in the world. When vinified properly, it may produce a full-bodied, complex, fruit-forward, and dry wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape owes most of its fame to its origins in the Bordeaux area of France. Traditionally, these wines have a strong crimson and black fruit flavor with a pronounced tannic component.

Because of its flavor profile and simplicity of production, Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular grape type among wine consumers and vintners both. The vines are very resilient, adapting to a wide range of temperatures and terroirs. They grow grapes with thick skins that are resistant to harsh conditions such as frost and hail.

Cabernet Sauvignon has large yields, which is a major plus for winemakers since it is one of the most popular red wines in the world.

About the Producer: The Prisoner Wine Company

The Prisoner Wine Company is a Californian producer based in Rutherford, Napa Valley and known for its acclaimed patented blends. The brand was previously produced by Orin Swift Cellars, but was sold to Huneeus Vintners in 2010 and became a separate brand. The assortment includes two wines: the homonymous red blend 'The Prisoner', born in the 2000 vintage, and the relatively young 'Saldo', a blend with a predominance of Zinfandel, made for the first time in 2007. Prisoneiro is a blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Syrah and Charbonneau, and the label features an engraving by artist Francisco Goya. Between 2000 and 2009, the number of "prisoner" cases increased from 385 to more than 75,000 cases per year. Dave Finney, founder of Orin Swift Cellars, remained as a winemaker at Huneeus until Jen Beloz took over the 2013 grape harvest. The Prisoner Wine Company was founded by Huneeus as a vehicle for the promotion and sale of The Prisoner, and also represented several wineries. proprietary blends. In addition to the Balance, it includes Thorn and Cuttings wines, as well as the white wine known as Blindfold, made from an eclectic blend of Chardonnay and White Rhone. The winery buys fruit from more than 200 lots across California. In April 2016, the brand was sold to Constellation Brands, one of the largest wine groups in the world.
