Tequila Ocho SA de CV is a premium tequila producer based in the town of Arandas, in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. The company was founded in 2006 by Tomas Estes, a renowned tequila expert and ambassador, and Carlos Camarena, a fifth-generation tequila maker. Together, they set out to create a tequila that would showcase the unique terroir of the Jalisco highlands, and the traditional methods of production that have been passed down through generations of tequila makers.

Tequila Ocho is made using only 100% blue agave, which is grown on the Camarena family’s estate, Rancho La Latilla. The agave is harvested by hand, and cooked in traditional brick ovens, before being crushed using a tahona, a large stone wheel that is pulled by a mule. The juice is then fermented using natural yeasts, and distilled twice in copper pot stills. The resulting tequila is aged in oak barrels for varying lengths of time, depending on the expression.

Tequila Ocho is known for its terroir-driven approach, which means that each expression is made from agave grown in a specific field, or “rancho”, and is named after that field. Tequila Varieties

First produced in the 16th century, when Spanish conquerors ran out of cognac during their expedition to the New World, tequila is made by distilling the juice from the heart of a blue agave native to Jalisco, Mexico. Tequila comes in a variety of colors, from the transparent and unrestrained, known as Blanco, to the darkest aged in Reposado, Anejo and Extra Anejo vats. Popular as a main ingredient in refreshing margaritas, it is also commonly consumed pure or with the addition of lemon and salt.
