About the Producer: Sutter Home Winery
Sutter Home is a California-based Santa Helena wine producer responsible for creating the original white zinfandel in the 1970s. The winery is one of the largest family owned properties in the United States and has a total annual production of about 20 million cases , a large percentage of which is White Zinfandel. The winery has been owned by the Trinchero family since 1948 and is part of an extensive family portfolio of wine brands, including Menage à Trois, Joel Gott, Trinchero Napa Valley and Napa Cellars. the story goes back to 1874, when John Thomann founded a winery, distillery and Victorian house on the St. Helena estate. The property was sold to the Leunbergers, who renamed the Sutter Home winery, but production was halted due to a ban in the 1920s and the site remained abandoned until Trincheros purchased and renovated the property. The Sutter Home portfolio consists of classic Chardonnay varietal wines. , Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as sweet fruity wines such as Sangria, Red Moscato, White Merlot and Bubble Rosé Moscato.
