Discover Cabernet Sauvignon Wines

Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine grape variety from the vitis vinifera grape plant species. It is the world's most commonly planted red wine grape variety, and its wines have lately been rated as the most sought-after in the world. When vinified properly, it may produce a full-bodied, complex, fruit-forward, and dry wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape owes most of its fame to its origins in the Bordeaux area of France. Traditionally, these wines have a strong crimson and black fruit flavor with a pronounced tannic component.

Because of its flavor profile and simplicity of production, Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular grape type among wine consumers and vintners both. The vines are very resilient, adapting to a wide range of temperatures and terroirs. They grow grapes with thick skins that are resistant to harsh conditions such as frost and hail.

Cabernet Sauvignon has large yields, which is a major plus for winemakers since it is one of the most popular red wines in the world.

About the Producer: Santa Carolina

Viña Santa Carolina is a Chilean winery that has been in continuous operation since the late 19th century, during the boom in the local commercial wine industry. It produces wines from a variety of Chilean wine regions, as well as a number of varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Carignan, Petit Verdot, Carmenere, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Gewurztraminer. Santa Carolina is part of the largest Carolina Wine Brands, which has several wineries in South America. Santa Carolina was founded in 1875 in Santiago by Luis Pereira Cotapos and was named after his wife Carolina Iñiguez. In 1877, he began the construction of the cellars, which were built with a mixture of limestone and egg white that was characteristic of the city's architecture at the time. The wineries were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973 and are used by Santa Carolina to this day. The original vineyards were located around the winery and cellars in downtown Santiago. In the 1960s, the vineyards were moved to São Luís de Pirque, outside the city, to make way for its expanding boundaries. The brand currently cultivates vineyards in many appellations in Chile, including the Casablanca, Leida, Maipo, Rapel, Cachapoal, Colchagua and Maule valleys. Santa Carolina has an extensive portfolio of wines in a variety of varieties and price ranges with an annual production of over 2 million cases.
