About the Producer: Sandeman
Sandeman is a Port producer from Vila Nova de Gaia in Porto. It lets you create a wide variety of ports, from Ruby and Tawny to a host of old-fashioned expressions. The house was founded in 1790 by George Sandeman, who started selling port and sherry in London and moved to Portugal in 1811. Today the house is run by the seventh generation George Sandeman, who worked in Porto and Jerez before he join the company. in 1977, the cellars are kept in their original location in Vila Nova de Gaia, the traditional home of most of the large port houses (here are Dow's, Graham's and Taylor's). The mild maritime climate in the area contributes to the slow aging of ports before being shipped across the world. The cellar floor is a mix of oak and soil, which helps maintain temperature and humidity and also provides a comfortable surface to roll the barrels. The Sandemana vineyards are located in the Douro Valley. Sandeman winery also produces several styles of sherry and wood. In the late 19th century, Sandeman acquired a sherry wine cellar in Spain, which significantly expanded the company's portfolio.
