About the Producer: Delas Freres Vins
Delas Frères is a property located in the north of the Rhône Valley, especially famous for its Syrah-based wines from the Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie and Crozes-Hermitages appellations. The Delas family has been involved in wine production in the Rhône Valley since 1835. , having received its current name in 1924. The wines were well received throughout the 20th century and, in 1977, they merged with Champagne Deutz. In 1993, both were acquired by the Roseau family, which owns Louis Roederer. Today the company owns vineyards in the northern part of the Rhône, the most famous of which is the Domaine des Tourettes in Hermitage. This property is located on a steep granite portion of Hermitage Hill, including the famous Le Bressade vineyard. This place is used for the preparation of Les Bressades cuvée: before fermentation, the grapes are peeled from the feet and cold macerated and aged on fine lees in French barrels for about 18 months. Delas Frères also produces Hermitage red and white wines, labeled as Domaine des Tourettes. Delas Frères also owns an 18-hectare (45-acre) vineyard in Crozes-Hermitage called Les Grand Chemins and a small plot of land in Saint-Joseph that produces grapes for Saint-Epins red and white wines, which are only produced in the best years. . In addition, it produces wines from selected vineyards from contract growers around the Rhône, from La Landonne Côte-Rôtie and Clos Boucher Condrieu to Haute Pierre Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
