About the Producer: Chateau de Saint Cosme

Château de Saint Cosme is a wine producer located north of the village of Gigonde, in the south of the Rhône. The estate has been cultivating wine since the 15th century, and Grenache wines produced under the Gigondas appellation are considered some of the best in the region. The property consists of three low-yielding vineyards with a total area of 15 hectares (37 acres) around Gigondas. Each of them - Le Poste, Le Claux and Hominus Fides - has a wine from the same vineyard that makes up the upper layer of the Château de Saint Cosme. These best wines are aged in a combination of first, second and third barrel pouring. ... In addition, there are two other wines produced from these vineyards: the regular Gigondas and the Valbelle, which are made from old vines. The Le Poste vineyard also produces Côtes du Rhône Blanc, made from Clairette, which is fermented and aged in old oak barrels. Since 1997, Château de Saint Cosme has been producing a range of wines produced outside the Gigondas, based on ongocyants. They are vinified in carefully selected partner wineries and aged in barrels selected by Saint Cosme. The assortment includes wines from Châteauneuf du Pape, Côte-Roti, Saint-Joseph, Croz-Hermitage and Condrieu, as well as several Côtes du Rhône wines and a range of Vin de France red wines and Pey d'Oc white wines from the Little range James. .Saint Cosme - the oldest farm in the region; it is situated on the grounds of a Gallo-Roman villa, which probably had its own vineyard, although the first documentary evidence of viticulture in this area dates back to 1416.
