Discover Ridge 15 Zinfandel Geyserville 750ml:

Ridge 15 Zinfandel Geyserville is a full-bodied, robust red wine from the renowned Geyserville vineyard in Sonoma County, California. This Zinfandel is a blend of 95% Zinfandel, 4% Petite Sirah, and 1% Carignane grapes, all of which are grown in the same vineyard. The wine is aged for 15 months in American oak barrels, giving it a complex flavor profile. On the nose, you’ll find aromas of ripe blackberry, raspberry, and plum, with hints of spice and earth. On the palate, you’ll find flavors of blackberry, raspberry, and plum, with notes of pepper, clove, and oak. The finish is long and smooth, with a lingering hint of spice. This is a great wine to pair with grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses.

The 2015 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch is 83% Zinfandel 10% Alicante Bouschet, and the balance Petite Sirah, all from the Sonoma Valley. This ripe, sexy, flamboyant beauty gives up a huge nose of sweet plums, melted licorice, violets, and dried herbs. It medium to full-bodied, has juicy acidity, and is a bigger, richer styled wine compared to the slightly more elegant 2014. This beautiful, pure, powerful Zinfandel is ideal for drinking over the coming decade.

Deep and potently structured, with distinctive spice box and licorice aromas and densely layered flavors of blackberry, cracked pepper and smoky herbes de Provence that finish with big but ripe tannins. Best from 2019 through 2025. 4,500 cases made.

Discover Zinfandel Wines

Red Zinfandel is a grape varietal with black and blue skins that is mostly produced and consumed in the United States.

This grape tends to have lighter-bodied qualities in the glass while yet retaining strong notes. Zin has a strong acidic content and a traditionally high alcohol level, which contributes to this (up to 17 percent in some cases).

Because of these two characteristics, Zinfandel may have a medium body on the palate.

Raspberry, raisin, cherry, cassis, and plum are just a few of the rich red fruit tastes found in this grape type. Black pepper spice, tobacco, dry barnyard door, and coffee are often used to complement these jammy fruit tastes.

While these are the broad strokes, Zinfandel tastes may vary widely, and alcohol level is a significant factor.

Cooler temperature Zins are said to have more red fruit tastes, whereas warmer climate varietal wines have more black fruit and pepper subtleties, depending on maturity at harvest.

Over 70% of Zinfandel acreage is owned by the United States, with the rest held by Italy (approximately 27%) and different places across Australia, South Africa, and Mexico.

About the Producer: Ridge Vineyards

Ridge Vineyards is a famous California wine producer, founded in 1962 in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but with vineyards in various parts of the state. Its iconic wine, Monte Bello, is a Bordeaux blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, known for the complexity and elegance of Bordeaux wines and the richness of typical California fruit. It is also known for its variety of Zinfandel wines and Zinfandel-based blends. , led by Geyserville cuvée. Wines made from blends of Petite Syrah, Carignan and Grenache-Mataro have also long been in the range, and Ridge has made small amounts of Chardonnay from each vintage for decades. The portfolio has expanded significantly in recent years. New products include the Lytton Estate Rosé, the limited edition Mendocino Falanghina and the trio of Rhône white wines from the vineyards of Adelaida Vineyard in Paso Robles. The renowned trio of vineyards, Monte Bello, Geyservillle and Lytton Springs make up the majority of Ridge Production, with the remainder coming from the East Bench site and several major contract growers. Montebello is located about 800 m (2,600 ft) above sea level in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a few miles south of San Jose. The history of the Monte Bello vineyard and winery dates back to the 1880s. All Bordeaux varieties are grown in the Monte Bello vineyard. The plots that have proven to yield the most dignified and sophisticated wines are included in the emblematic wine, which bears the name of the vineyard. The other locations, which tend to produce relatively inexpensive young wines, are dedicated to the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot estate. Blind tasting confirms the selection and wines are combined in two sessions in February and May. The Klein Cabernet Sauvignon is a barrel of a part of the property planted by the Alsatian Pierre Klein in the late 1880s. The Chardonnay property also comes from the Monte Bello Estate vineyards. Geiserville is a property (and village) located in the AVA Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. It is over 100 miles by car north of Monte Bello. The property belongs to the Trentadyu family, who have been selling Ridge grapes since 1966 to produce Zinfandel's eponymous wine. It is home to some of the oldest vines on the Ridge, some of which at the Old Site are over 130 years old. Lytton Springs is also known for its mighty Zinfandel. It is located in Dry Creek Valley, adjacent to Alexander Valley to the west. Ridge first purchased the grapes in 1972 and immediately purchased the property in 1991. The winemaking in the wine portfolio combines old-school methods with sophisticated laboratory analysis to provide an early warning of any problems. Ridge uses only local yeast and avoids filtration in favor of sedimenting and grinding with occasional egg white cleaning. Paul Draper, who joined Ridge in 1969, is one of the most renowned winemakers in the world. His awards include Decanter Person of the Year (2000), the COPY Wine Award (2004) and the James Beard Award (2007). In 2015, according to a survey of colleagues conducted by Decanter Magazine, he was included among the top five most respected winemakers in the world.
