Discover Sauvignon Blanc Wines

Sauvignon Blanc is a white wine grape type best known for producing dry white wines. Its taste distinguishes it from most other white wine grape types, making it light and pleasant.

The most frequent Sauvignon Blanc taste notes are tropical, tree, and citrus fruit. When the wine originates from a colder region, subtleties of dates, papaya, melon, and many aromas of herbs or dry underbrush are more prominent. You may detect pieces of English pudding, custard, and vanilla if you're exposed to oak. While it is perhaps best recognized for being the main white wine grape type in the Bordeaux area of France and the Loire Valley, sensuous Sauvignon blancs are also produced in New World wine growing locations like as Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley in California. In addition, Sauvignon Blanc is renowned for being part of the mix that produces the sweet dessert wine known as Sauternes in Bordeaux.

This grape variety thrives in both cold and warm regions and a wide range of soil types. As a result, it's a little more complicated. In New Zealand, for example, the kind of soil on which Sauvignon Blanc is produced has a significant impact.

About the Producer: Nobilo

Nobilo is a renowned wine producer in New Zealand. Its first vines were planted in the Auckland sub-region, Kumeu, in 1943 by Croatian immigrants Nikola and Zuva Nobilo, making it one of New Zealand's pioneer wineries. Today, Nobilo produces a wide selection of wines from classic New Zealand varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but is best known for its Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. The estate was one of several wineries founded by Croatian immigrants in Auckland (along with Babić, Villa Maria and Matua Valley) that collectively became the backbone of New Zealand's wine industry. Many believe that Nobilo led the transition from hybrid grape varieties to higher quality varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and introduced the wine to New Zealand. Nobilo has vineyards in several key regions, including Central Otago, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay. However, the most important vineyards are in Marlborough, where Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are grown for Icon's main line. The Nobilo brand was purchased by Australian BRL Hardy in 2000, which ended up becoming part of Constellation Brands. In 2019, Nobilo was sold to E&J Gallo, the largest wine company in the world.
