Producer Information: Newton Vineyard
Newton Vineyard is located on Spring Mountain in the Napa Valley, California, an area celebrated for its diverse microclimates and complex soils. Established in 1977 by Peter Newton and his wife Su Hua, the winery was founded with a vision to craft wines that express the unique character of their hillside estate. Newton Vineyard employs sustainable farming practices and minimal intervention winemaking techniques, including natural fermentation and unfiltered bottling, to preserve the integrity of their fruit and terroir.
Beyond their flagship Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon, Newton Vineyard produces a range of varietal wines that highlight Napa Valley’s viticultural diversity. Their portfolio includes Chardonnay from Carneros, Merlot from Yountville, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc sourced from select estate blocks. The winery is also recognized for its Bordeaux-style blends that integrate multiple grape varieties for complexity and balance. While primarily focused on still wines, Newton does not produce spirits or beer; instead they concentrate on limited-production bottlings that showcase single-vineyard expressions within Napa’s sub-appellations.

Incredibly refined, powerful and sumptuously smooth. Notes of nectarine, almond, custard combined with apple, oyster shell, smoke and a touch of butterscotch. A rounded and stunningly lingering finish.

James Suckling
This is a delicious chardonnay that shows just the right balance between dried citrus rind and pithy grapefruit and vanilla and butter. Full-bodied with lovely phenolics, providing depth and structure. Vibrant yet oily on the finish. Drink now or hold.

Wine & Spirits
This vintage is the first at Newton for Alberto Bianchi, who had made wine at other Moët Hennessy properties in Margaret River, Marlborough and Mendoza after starting out in Italy. He focused this chardonnay on fruit from Carneros, with a contribution from Rutherford; it fermented spontaneously in French oak barrels (24 percent new) where it aged as well. It’s refreshing, firm and juicy, a sleek chardonnay that feels carefully crafted. Time in oak adds a salted caramel note to the brisk and earthy finish.

Entirely barrel fermented, this white is beautifully aromatic in pear, toasted oak and hazelnut. High toned, floral and earthy, it shows deft balance in the glass, offering elegance and impressive complexity that lasts gingerly on the finish.
Chardonnay is a versatile white grape variety known for producing wines that can range from crisp and mineral to rich and buttery. This popular wine showcases a diverse flavor profile, featuring notes of apple, pear, citrus, tropical fruits, and stone fruits, making it appealing to a wide range of palates.
The aromas of Chardonnay often include green apple, lemon zest, peach, pineapple, vanilla, and buttered popcorn with occasional hints of oak. Its texture can vary significantly; some Chardonnays are creamy and full-bodied while others are light and crisp. Commonly produced in regions such as Burgundy in France and California in the USA, this wine pairs beautifully with grilled chicken or fish dishes, creamy pasta, lobster, risotto, and soft cheeses like Brie or Camembert.
