A triumph of aromas and flavors, the Mumm Napa Prestige Cuvee is one of the very best in the marketplace; beautiful from start to finish; fresh apples aromas practically jump out of the glass, a bit of yeastiness adds complexity; superb on the palate and wonderfully crisp in the aftertaste. I have enjoyed this in the past, but this recent tasting (9/5/14), the wine showed more than I had expected.

About the Producer: Mumm Napa
Mumm Napa is based in Rutherford and is one of California's leading sparkling wine producers. The property was founded in the late 1970s by one of Champagne's leading houses, GH Mumm, under the leadership of Guy Devaux. Mumm Napa produces a wide selection of traditional sparkling wines and still wines from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris. The property's first vintage was produced in 1983 under the label Domaine Mumm - only in 1990 the name was changed to Mamm Napa. The fruit comes from more than 50 Napa Valley growers, as well as the 45 hectares (110 acres) of Devaux Ranch vineyards in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay have been cultivated on this property since 1991. Mumm Napa produces more than 20 different sparkling wines ranked by quality and style, including premium DVX series, reserve series, classic series, giant series and Santana series. The property also produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Gris and Rose varieties. One of the property's special cuvée, dating from the vintage Devaux Ranch Cuvée, is made from the finest fruits of the estate's vineyard as a tribute to the founder of Mumm Napa Winery, Guy Devaux. Brut sparkling wine is made according to the original Deveaux blend, consisting of 58 percent Pinot Noir, 28 percent Chardonnay, eight percent Pinot Meunier and six percent Pinot Gris.
