Critical Acclaim

James Suckling
This has a core of fresh, extremely fleshy and attractive peaches and lemons from a ripe year. The delicacy and purity of this Champagne is stunning, as is its gently powerful nature. Such great purity here. In great form! Drink now.
Wine Spectator
This vibrant version is finely knit and elegant, with floral, toast and smoke aromas on the nose and flavors of crème de cassis and lemon curd riding the lacy mousse.
Wilfred Wong
The Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne typifies the best in the non-vintage brut category—fresh core fruit aromas, elegant textures, apple/citrus flavors, and a lively crispness in the finish. Serve now with a dozen raw oysters. (Tasted: October 10, 2016, San Francisco, CA)
Wine & Spirits
Balanced in a rich style, this yields flavors of lemon meringue over zesty orange-pith acidity. It’s round and smooth, a wine with direction that gently carries you along with it.

About the Producer: Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer is a champagne establishment in Reims best known for its flagship Cristal wine. The house, founded in the late 18th century, is still family owned, with an equal number of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a small amount of Pinot Meunier. Although the house was founded in 1776, it is now famous. it began in 1833, when Louis Roederer placed the reins in his uncle's hands and renamed the business for himself. Roderer intended to conquer foreign markets, mainly Russian ones; Röderer became the favorite wine of the Russian royal family. Crystal was created for the infamous paranoid Russian Tsar Alexander II, who called for the bottle to be transparent and flat-bottomed to avoid hidden explosives. Louis Roederer purchased several grand cru vineyards in Champagne in 1845 to add to his portfolio. This was unusual at the time, as most winemakers bought grapes rather than growing them themselves. Roderer had a better understanding of the intricacies of his vines and grapes and how best to use them; For Roderer, good wine depended on the soil and traditions of the house that created it. Today, Roderer vineyards cover nearly 240 hectares (600 acres) of land in Montagne de Reims, Valle de la Marne and Côte de Blanc. ... In 2012, about 25% of the vineyards were managed biodynamically. Roederer's portfolio includes vintage and non-vintage brut, rosé and blanc-de-blanc, and vintage crystal. More recently, the house partnered with French designer Philippe Starck to create Brut Nature champagne.
