Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, a sixth-generation family member, and her husband Cyril de Bournet were among the first to recognize the Apalta Valley's terroirs in Chile as having the potential to produce high-quality red varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Merlot in 1994. Clos Apalta, DBL's iconic wine, made history in 2005 by being the first and only South American wine to ever be named #1 in Wine Spectator's prestigious Top100. Alexandra and Cyril were joined in their mission by their son, Charles de Bournet, to develop world-class wines combining French winemaking methodology and Apalta's excellent terroirs.
