It is best known for its rich, concentrated red wines made from Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Justin Estate consists of four vineyards planted in limestone-rich soil and scattered throughout the Paso Robles region. The first vines were planted in 1981, after Justin Baldwin purchased the 160-acre (65-hectare) site that is now the Founder's vineyard. Since then, Justin Vineyards vineyards have expanded, adding areas with good exposure to the sun and fresh Pacific influences - a terroir that works well for Bordeaux varieties. The first Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines were produced from the 1986 vintage, and Justin Reserve's first commercial vintage, a Bordeaux blend, was released the following year. This wine was renamed Isosceles, and is now the flagship of Justin Vineyards. Isosceles is a left bank style wine, usually around 75 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
