A cleverly styled and attractive sauvignon that offers bright, soft and fresh tropical fruit with peaches and mangoes to close.

Discover Sauvignon Blanc Wines

Sauvignon Blanc is a white wine grape type best known for producing dry white wines. Its taste distinguishes it from most other white wine grape types, making it light and pleasant.

The most frequent Sauvignon Blanc taste notes are tropical, tree, and citrus fruit. When the wine originates from a colder region, subtleties of dates, papaya, melon, and many aromas of herbs or dry underbrush are more prominent. You may detect pieces of English pudding, custard, and vanilla if you're exposed to oak. While it is perhaps best recognized for being the main white wine grape type in the Bordeaux area of France and the Loire Valley, sensuous Sauvignon blancs are also produced in New World wine growing locations like as Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley in California. In addition, Sauvignon Blanc is renowned for being part of the mix that produces the sweet dessert wine known as Sauternes in Bordeaux.

This grape variety thrives in both cold and warm regions and a wide range of soil types. As a result, it's a little more complicated. In New Zealand, for example, the kind of soil on which Sauvignon Blanc is produced has a significant impact.

About the Producer: Giesen

Giesen is a family owned winery located in Marlborough, New Zealand. It was founded in 1981 by Alex, Marcel and Theo Giesen, who came from Germany to the Canterbury region of New Zealand to plant Riesling. Now production has shifted north to Marlborough and the focus has shifted to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The Giesen family converted the Marlborough dairy farm to vineyards in 1993 and now owns or operates approximately 283 hectares (700 acres) in the region. These vineyards give rise to a wide range of white, red, sparkling and dessert wines. Vineyards are grown primarily for Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, but many other varieties are grown, including Syrah, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Merlot. One of Giesen's best wines, August 1888, is the Sauvignon Blanc, named after the brothers' grandfather. Unlike the winemaking process for most Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough varieties, August grapes are hand-picked, fermented in barrels with local yeast and aged on the lees for nearly a year before bottling to create a richer expression of the variety.
