Discover Foppiano Petite Sirah Rrv:

This is a traditional huge, well-structured Petite Sirah, with an opaque purple tint in the glass. It has a lot of spice and a lot of rich, solid black berry fruit. The massive fruit balances out the strong tannins.

Since the arrival of the first European settlers, wine grapes have been planted in Sonoma County. Russian immigrants started cultivating vines along the shore around 1812. Spanish monks planted vines as they established missions in the 1820s. Buena Vista, California’s first premium winery, was founded in 1855 by Hungarian Agoston Haraszthy and is still in operation today.

Producer Notes: Foppiano Vineyards

Foppiano Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, California. The winery was founded in 1896 by Giovanni Foppiano, an Italian immigrant who brought with him a passion for winemaking. Today, the winery is run by fourth and fifth-generation family members, who continue to produce award-winning wines.

Foppiano Vineyards is known for its exceptional Zinfandel, which has been a flagship wine for the winery for over a century. The winery also produces other varietals, including Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Foppiano Vineyards is committed to sustainable farming practices, and all of their wines are made with grapes grown on their estate vineyards.

In addition to their wine production, Foppiano Vineyards also produces a line of artisanal olive oils. The olive groves are located on the estate vineyards and are tended to with the same care and attention as the grapevines. The olive oils are made using a traditional cold-press method, resulting in a rich and flavorful oil that is perfect for cooking or drizzling over salads.

Foppiano Vineyards has received numerous accolades for their wines, including a 90+ point rating from Wine Spectator for their 2016 Estate Petite Sirah. The winery has also been recognized for their commitment to sustainability, receiving certification from the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.

Overall, Foppiano Vineyards is a renowned producer of high-quality wines and artisanal olive oils. Their commitment to sustainable farming practices and traditional winemaking techniques has earned them a loyal following among wine enthusiasts and critics alike.

Syrah: Origins, Flavor & Pairing Guide

View All Syrah Products →

Syrah, also known as Shiraz in some regions, is a full-bodied red wine grape variety renowned for its rich and complex flavor profile. Characterized by notes of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, it often features hints of pepper, olive, and smoke that contribute to its distinctive character. This wine typically exhibits aromas of black fruit, violet, leather, and spice with an earthy undertone that enhances its appeal.

Originating from notable regions such as the RhĂ´ne Valley in France and the Barossa Valley in Australia, Syrah is crafted using various winemaking techniques including fermentation in stainless steel or oak barrels. The resulting texture is smooth and velvety with moderate to high tannins. Syrah pairs beautifully with grilled meats, lamb dishes, barbecue ribs, rich stews, and aged cheeses making it a versatile choice for both casual gatherings and formal dinners.

Discover an exceptional bottle of Syrah in our store today. Our customers top recommendations include: Vino de Eyzaguirre Syrah, GĂ©rard Bertrand Saint-Chinian (Syrah – Mourvedre), Château de Saint Cosme Saint-Joseph Red, and Sixth Sense Syrah.
