Vinous
Opaque ruby. Spice-accented cherry and blackberry on the fragrant nose and in the mouth. Silky and open-knit, showing good heft and a hint of smokiness on the back half. Smooth, even tannins lend gentle grip to a long, lively finish that leaves dark berry notes behind. Drinking window: 2020 - 2026.

Cassis, smoked earth, some meatiness, and ample minerality all emerge from the 2017 Crozes Hermitage Les Launes. From multiple terroirs in the Crozes region, it's medium-bodied, has good mid-palate depth, plenty of acidity, and building tannins that clamp down firmly on the finish. The tannins could eventually be problematic here, but it has beautiful purity of fruit. Give bottles a year or so, and it should keep for 5-7 years. Rating: 88-90
