Dow Vineyards is a California-based winery located in the Adelaide AVA area of Paso Robles. It is most closely related to blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon in the Bordeaux style. Dau also makes wine from some of the well-known Rhône grapes, including Syrah, Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. The portfolio also includes Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The wine portfolio is divided into four levels at different prices. The top level estate collection, as the name suggests, is made from fruits grown on the estate. This range focuses on Bordeaux varieties and includes: Soul of a Lion: flagship wine: mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, Mayotte: Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon with a small component of Petit Verdot, State of Cabernet Sauvignon, Michaud: two-thirds of Merlot with one-third. Cabernet Sauvignon Cuvée Lizzie: Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon Sauvignon Blanc Other lines: Reserva Collection: brings together fruits acquired from selected producers. All fruits on the property are picked by hand. DAOU Vineyards & Winery History The property was founded in 2007 by brothers George and Daniel Dow, who previously built a successful IT business. The original property consisted of a piece of land that was once part of Hoffman's mountain ranch. In 2012, the brothers purchased the remainder of the Hoffman estate, bringing his vineyards to 86 hectares (212 acres). Hoffman Ranch was the first modern commercial winery in Paso Robles after Prohibition. It was founded by Stanley Hoffman with the help of renowned California winemaker Andre Celesteff.
