Discover Cabernet Sauvignon Wines
Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine grape variety from the vitis vinifera grape plant species. It is the world's most commonly planted red wine grape variety, and its wines have lately been rated as the most sought-after in the world. When vinified properly, it may produce a full-bodied, complex, fruit-forward, and dry wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape owes most of its fame to its origins in the Bordeaux area of France. Traditionally, these wines have a strong crimson and black fruit flavor with a pronounced tannic component.
Because of its flavor profile and simplicity of production, Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular grape type among wine consumers and vintners both. The vines are very resilient, adapting to a wide range of temperatures and terroirs. They grow grapes with thick skins that are resistant to harsh conditions such as frost and hail.
Cabernet Sauvignon has large yields, which is a major plus for winemakers since it is one of the most popular red wines in the world.
About the Producer: Vina Cousino-Macul
Viña Cousiño-Macul is a Chilean winery located in the Maipo Valley, south of Santiago. It was founded in 1856 and is one of the few manufacturers founded at the time and still in the family. Cusinho Macul produces a wide range of varietal and blended wines from international grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Syrah. Most of the production is located in the Maipo Valley. The original vineyards are located in Macul, a commune east of Santiago. The limestone soils are suitable for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and the best Finis Terrae Cusinho-Macul wines are made from grapes grown here. However, the expansion of the cities of Santiago limited the size of production, and so, in 1996, Cusinho Macul acquired 300 hectares (750 acres) of land in Buin, in Alto Maipo. The third vineyard, Cusinho Macul, is located in Alué, in the coastal region of Maipo, and is planted mainly in Carmenera and Syrah. In total, three vineyards on the farm are planted with nine different varieties of red and white grapes, all planted with their own rootstocks. They range from premium wines to more expensive wines.
