Critical Acclaim

James Suckling
A dense and rich wine with blueberry, red brick and tile aromas that follow through to full body, tight and chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Needs a year or two to come together.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Containing a 4% splash of Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reserve has a cassis, pencil shavings, spice box and earth-scented nose. In the mouth, it's pretty oaky, firm, chewy and a little drying. It offers decent expression with a mainly earthy character and a very big, full and warm finish.

Discover Cabernet Sauvignon Wines

Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine grape variety from the vitis vinifera grape plant species. It is the world's most commonly planted red wine grape variety, and its wines have lately been rated as the most sought-after in the world. When vinified properly, it may produce a full-bodied, complex, fruit-forward, and dry wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape owes most of its fame to its origins in the Bordeaux area of France. Traditionally, these wines have a strong crimson and black fruit flavor with a pronounced tannic component.

Because of its flavor profile and simplicity of production, Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular grape type among wine consumers and vintners both. The vines are very resilient, adapting to a wide range of temperatures and terroirs. They grow grapes with thick skins that are resistant to harsh conditions such as frost and hail.

Cabernet Sauvignon has large yields, which is a major plus for winemakers since it is one of the most popular red wines in the world.

About the Producer: Charles Krug

Charles Krug is the oldest commercial winery in Napa Valley, California. Founded in 1861 by Charles Krug, the winery is located in the Santa Helena appellation and is managed by the Mondavi family. Charles Krug produces a wide range of wines, most notably Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon. Charles Krug was a Prussian immigrant and founded a winery when he was 27 years old. He introduced the cider press as a winemaking tool, and the original press can still be seen in the winery today. After his death in 1892, the winery passed into the hands of James Moffit, who sold it to Cesare Mondavi in 1943. Mondavi left it to his sons Peter and Robert, until, because of Charles Circle, Robert Mondavi left. to open your own winery. Peter Mondavi Sr. made Charles Krug the legend he is today. He introduced several innovations, including research into cold fermentation, experiments with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in what is now the region of Carneros, cold sterile filtration techniques, and aging in small French oak barrels. Mondavi became president of Charles Krug in 1976 and, in 1999, was named one of the 12 Living Legends by the Napa Valley Winemaking Association. He died in February 2016, leaving the winery to his sons Mark and Peter Jr. Charles Kroogi is to blame. Among the most coveted wines is the flagship Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, made from the best fruits of the Yountville vineyards. In addition, the Generations Cabernet Sauvignon blend, which Mark Mondavi first produced in 1991, received high recognition and status. Napa Valley's more affordable varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Charles Krug also produces several limited edition wines, notably Cabernet Sauvignon Cold Springs from Howell Mountain.
