Discover Cabernet Sauvignon Wines
Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine grape variety from the vitis vinifera grape plant species. It is the world's most commonly planted red wine grape variety, and its wines have lately been rated as the most sought-after in the world. When vinified properly, it may produce a full-bodied, complex, fruit-forward, and dry wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape owes most of its fame to its origins in the Bordeaux area of France. Traditionally, these wines have a strong crimson and black fruit flavor with a pronounced tannic component.
Because of its flavor profile and simplicity of production, Cabernet Sauvignon is a popular grape type among wine consumers and vintners both. The vines are very resilient, adapting to a wide range of temperatures and terroirs. They grow grapes with thick skins that are resistant to harsh conditions such as frost and hail.
Cabernet Sauvignon has large yields, which is a major plus for winemakers since it is one of the most popular red wines in the world.
About the Producer: Buena Vista Carneros
Buena Vista Winery is located on the Sonoma side of Los Carneros AVA, California. Founded in 1857 by Agoston Harasti de Moquesa, it is considered the oldest winery in Northern California and its founder is the father of Californian wine. Today Buena Vista produces a wide variety of wines, mainly with a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Agoston Haraszti de Mokesa immigrated to the United States from Hungary in 1840 and ended up moving to northern California in hopes of finding his fortune during the gold rush. ... Instead, he saw Sonoma's fantastic potential in growing wine grapes and vines planted in Carneros. In 1869, Haraszti tragically died in a crocodile-infested river in Nicaragua, and the winery was forgotten until 1943, when Frank and Anthony Bartholomew bought it. Using renowned winemaker André Chelisteff, they replanted the vineyards and rebuilt the winery, releasing its first vintage in 1949. In 2011, Buena Vista became part of Boisset Family Estates, which owns several wineries, including Raymond Vineyards in Napa. Los Carneros AVA is divided between Napa and Sonoma counties. With a strong cool breeze from San Pablo Bay, it is suitable for growing cold climates, including Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Merlot and Syrah also thrive in clay-dominated soils. Buena Vista cultivates all four varieties and they are the focus of the portfolio. In addition, Buena Vista buys fruit from across Sonoma County for a range of other wines.
