Bruichladdich is a distillery on the Scottish Islay of Islay, known worldwide for its single malt whiskey distilled under the brands Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore. The distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers in the westernmost part of the island. After family disputes, William Harvey ran the business until a fire in 1934 and his death in 1936. It changed hands several times in the following decades and was eventually closed in 1994. In 2000, Bruichladdich was bought by a group of investors led by Mark Reinier. Murray McDavid.
