Typically distilled in pot stills or column stills, gin may also undergo re-distillation with these botanicals to enhance its flavor profile. Most gins are unaged; however, some styles may be briefly aged in barrels to develop unique characteristics.
The flavor and aroma profile of gin is predominantly piney and herbal due to the juniper berries, often complemented by bright citrus notes from lemon and orange peels as well as floral elements like lavender.
