Producer Notes: Baileys

Baileys is a well-known drinks producer that is famous for its creamy and delicious Irish cream liqueur. The company was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 1974 by Tom Jago, who was working for Gilbeys of Ireland at the time. The idea for Baileys came about when Jago was trying to create a new product that would appeal to women, who were not big drinkers of whiskey, which was the main product that Gilbeys was producing at the time.

Baileys is made from a blend of Irish whiskey, cream, and other ingredients, including cocoa and vanilla. The whiskey used in Baileys is sourced from a number of different distilleries in Ireland, and the cream is sourced from local farms. The ingredients are blended together to create a smooth and creamy liqueur that has a rich and indulgent flavor.

In addition to its famous Irish cream liqueur, Baileys also produces a number of other drinks that are popular around the world. These include Baileys Chocolat Luxe, which is a luxurious blend of Belgian chocolate and Baileys Irish cream, and Baileys Almande, which is a dairy-free and gluten-free version of the classic Irish cream liqueur that is made with almond milk.

Baileys has become a global brand, with its products being sold in over 160 countries around the world. The company has won numerous awards for its products, including the International Wine and Spirit Competition’s Liqueur Trophy, which it has won multiple times.

Overall, Baileys is a drinks producer that is known for its high-quality and indulgent products. Its Irish cream liqueur is a classic drink that is enjoyed by millions of people around the world, and its other products, such as Baileys Chocolat Luxe and Baileys Almande, are also popular with consumers who are looking for something a little different.

Discover Assorted Liqueurs

Liqueurs are an alcoholic beverage made from distilled spirits and other ingredients including sugar, fruits, herbs, and spices. They are usually highly sweetened and un-aged beyond a resting time during manufacturing, if required, allowing their tastes to mix, and are often served with or after dessert.

Liquor, on the other hand, is sweet by nature, while liquor has a powerful taste that is everything from sweet. This word is really used to describe these sweetened spirits prepared with various tastes and extracts. One of the many reasons the two words are confused is because rum, brandy, and whiskey may all be used as a base spirit for liqueur. Liqueurs are liquors that have been sweetened and diluted. Liqueurs typically have an alcohol level of about 15% (compared to 40% in liqueurs), although they may reach up to 55%.

Liquors come in a variety of tastes, ranging from sweet and creamy to citrus-flavored and everything in between. Because many liqueurs are sweet and smooth, they may frequently be drunk without mixers or complex cocktail recipes.

Discover Irish Cream

Irish cream is a cream liqueur made from Irish whiskey, cream, and various flavorings. It is made in the United Kingdom. It is often served on its own or in mixed beverages, the most common of which is Irish coffee, and contains an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 15 to 20 percent. The United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States are the company's three major markets. Due to the fact that the first version of Baileys was conceived by a creative firm working for the International Distillers & Vintners' Dublin office in 1973, it is not considered a traditional Irish product. Ireland is the only country in the world where Irish cream is legally protected as a geographical indicator product, which means that it must be made in Ireland.

Irish cream is consumed straight, on the rocks, or in mixed beverages, and it is frequently used with Kahlua in Irish coffees or hot chocolates to create a unique flavor profile. It's also a popular addition to White Russians because of its subtle flavor. Irish cream is used to flavor pastries and other sweet foods by some people.

About the Producer: Baileys

Baileys is a cream-based liqueur made with chocolate flavored Irish whiskey according to its own recipe. Irish cream was introduced in 1974 by Gilbeys of Ireland and is now distributed worldwide by beverage giant Diageo. Baileys accounts for more than half of all alcoholic beverages exported from Ireland and produced in Dublin and Mallusk. The recipe includes Irish whiskey, sugar, cocoa extract and cream. The whiskey is sourced from several distilleries across the country and around 220 million liters of fresh milk from more than 38,000 dairy cows are used to make the cream of the liqueur every year. The cream and alcohol are mixed with Irish whiskey and homogenized with an emulsifier containing refined vegetable oil to prevent the liquids from separating during storage. Alcohol retains the cream, allowing the liquor to last two years. Baileys Original is the best known and most widely sold product in the portfolio, but Irish cream is made with a range of complementary flavors such as vanilla, chocolate cherry, salty caramel and espresso.
