Discover 400 Conejos Reposado Mezcal:

400 Conejos Reposado Mezcal is a distinguished spirit hailing from the Oaxaca region of Mexico, renowned for its artisanal production methods and rich flavor profile. Crafted primarily from the EspadĂn agave, this mezcal undergoes a meticulous process that includes traditional roasting in earthen pits, imparting a smoky essence that is characteristic of high-quality mezcals. The reposado designation indicates that it has been aged for a minimum of two months in oak barrels, allowing it to develop a harmonious balance between the vibrant agave notes and the subtle complexities derived from wood aging. This results in an inviting aroma filled with hints of vanilla, caramel, and dried fruit.

On the palate, 400 Conejos Reposado offers an intriguing interplay of flavors; the initial sweetness is complemented by earthy undertones and a gentle smokiness that lingers pleasantly. Its smooth texture makes it versatile for sipping neat or incorporating into cocktails where its unique character can shine through. The brand’s commitment to sustainable practices and small-batch production further enhances its appeal among discerning consumers who appreciate authenticity in their spirits. Overall, 400 Conejos Reposado Mezcal stands out as an exemplary representation of Mexican craftsmanship and tradition within the mezcal category.

Mezcal Varieties

In Mexico, mezcal (also known as mezcal de agave) is a distilled alcoholic beverage derived from the agave plant, a slow-growing succulent that is native to Mexico and parts of Texas and is used to make mezcal. Mezcal was first produced in the 16th century by the conquistadors, who, as invading armies are wont to do in hostile territory, made getting drunk a top priority and experimented with distilling whiskey from whatever they could find in the area they were occupying.

The history of mezcal-making evolved over time to become an essential element of Mexican culture, but it wasn't until Prohibition drove thirsty American visitors to Mexico in pursuit of a legal buzz that mezcal became widely known to drinkers in the United States and around the world.

Mezcal can be prepared from any of the more than 30 different types of agave. Tobalá, tobaziche, tepeztate, arroqueo, and espadn are the most frequent agave varieties used for mezcal production. Espadn is the most prevalent agave variety and accounts for up to 90 percent of all mezcal production.
