About the Producer: Barton 1792 Distillery

Barton Distillery 1792 claims to be the oldest fully functioning distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. The property was founded by Tom Moore in 1879, but now takes its name from the year Kentucky joined the United States. Hidden in a ravine, the distillery has enjoyed inferior status for most of its history, in addition to numerous owners and name changes. Its post-ban history began in 1944, when it was bought by Oscar Goetz's Barton Brands. It was then purchased by Constellation in 1999 and later acquired by Sazerac, which gave the factory its current name and opened a visitor's center to promote the brand. The 79-hectare (196-acre) site houses a workshop, 29 old warehouses, 21 other buildings and a Tom Moore fountain. The 1940s red brick distillery uses various kneading plants, its own yeast, and has a copper-headed beer cube. Bourbon 1792 base stock is made from a patented recipe with high rye content and is also known as “Small Batch”. or Ridgemount Nature Reserve. Numerous limited editions were also produced, including the single-barrel series, port and a version made with wheat instead of rye.
